Noo Sans: a studio wordmark grown into a 676-glyph variable font with Claude Code
Noo–Studio turned the N and O of its logo into a variable font in under three days: AI agents drew and checked glyphs, the founder judged them.

WHAT THEY DID
Noo–Studio founder Piotr Paweł Zalewski measured the N and O of his studio’s wordmark and wrote the numbers up as a brief. One AI agent in Claude Code then drew each glyph as Python code and built the font with fontTools, a second agent measured every round, and he judged the letters himself in running text on the live site.
STEP BY STEP
- Measured the logo first: stem-to-height ratio, the circle of the O, the angle of the N's diagonal, how strokes end. Wrote these down as a brief and a parameter file before drawing anything.
- A designer agent in Claude Code wrote each glyph as a short Python function, built the font with fontTools, rendered it in headless Chrome and measured the image.
- A separate reviewer agent measured each round and wrote down what failed. The founder read the result in running text on the live site and marked letters he thought were wrong.
- Rules were added to the agents' prompts as faults were found, e.g. 'the client's eye is the bar' (4 October, after round 8) and 'no colour tables in the font' (6 October, after a Chrome rendering fault).
- About ten review rounds, then browser tests on light and dark grounds, then release under the SIL Open Font License.
HOW IT WENT
The studio reports a variable family with weights 100 to 900, four masters and 676 glyphs, live on noo-studio.com in under three days after about ten review rounds. A kerning audit and a colour-table fix followed the launch. The font is released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
Reported results: A variable family with weights 100–900 and 676 glyphs went live on the studio's site in under three days. After launch, a kerning audit and a colour-table fix followed.
WORTH KNOWING
The record is the studio’s own and no third party has checked the build. The author lists the limits: Latin only, no italic, no hinting, and not tested with readers, on Windows or in Firefox. He calls the three-day figure the one he can’t fully defend.
TRY IT
- Before drawing, write the wordmark’s numbers down (stem share of height, curve geometry, terminals) as the brief.
- Give the drawing agent and a separate reviewing agent their own instructions, keep every round's files, and leave the final call to a person reading running text at real sizes.
- Plan for after launch: kerning audits, cross-browser checks and hinting take ongoing time.

4TC interpretation
Our reading, not something the source says.
Shows a step-by-step way to extend a wordmark into a working type family with AI agents, and where the human eye still had to overrule an agent's review.
