Guillaume Hambourger makes 368 consistent game icons with Flux and Krea, and logs the rejects
A UI designer makes 368 talent icons for his own browser game in two AI passes, Flux then Krea, with a reject grid written before the first render.

WHAT THEY DID
Guillaume Hambourger, a UI designer, needed one icon for each of the 368 talents in Dynasty Nova, the browser strategy game he develops. He fixed a shared prompt sentence, two model passes (Flux 1 dev with two community LoRAs, then Krea 2 image-to-image) and a written reject grid before generating.
STEP BY STEP
- Write a two-part prompt: the effect's subject plus one fixed 'mass sentence' for all 368 icons.
- Pass 1: Flux 1 dev with two community MOBA-icon LoRAs, six renders per icon (two more if none kept).
- Pass 2: Krea 2 image-to-image at strength 0.5, with a warm or cold style reference chosen by the effect's colour.
- Sort candidates on a reduced contact sheet against criteria written beforehand; score legibility 1–5 at 32 px.
- Apply one crop and one colour grade to the whole series, export 512 px WebP from 1024 masters, and name files from the game wiki.
HOW IT WENT
By his account all 368 icons have been in the game since version 3.25 on 18 Oct 2026, from at least 2,208 renders. A 32 px legibility check sent 10 back for rework, and the last 165 took two days.
Reported results: 368 icons in the game since v3.25 (18 Oct 2026); at least 2,208 renders; 10 reworks; last 165 icons in two days.
WORTH KNOWING
A dated, first-hand account of a long icon series with numbers, a written grid and the failures: stray '5% OFF' text, multi-object scenes lost at small size, colour drift and prompt words that backfire.
TRY IT
- Write one sentence that stays the same in every prompt; change only the subject.
- Write your reject rules before you look at any renders.
- Judge each icon at its real display size, not at full resolution.

Claims and where they come from
- Guillaume Hambourger develops Dynasty Nova, a browser space-strategy game; its talent trees have 368 effects (38 shared, plus 10 classes of 33), and each got its own AI-made icon (translated from French). (reported) [1]
- He says the icons have been in the game since version 3.25 of 18 Oct 2026 (translated). (reported) [1]
- Every prompt has two parts: the subject of the effect, plus a fixed 'mass sentence' shared by all 368 icons that carries the consistency of the series (translated). (reported) [1]
- Pass 1 finds the shape with Flux 1 dev (1024 × 1024, 28 steps, guidance 3) and two community style LoRAs trained on MOBA spell icons; pass 2 applies the art direction with Krea 2 image-to-image at strength 0.5 (translated). (reported) [1]
- Each icon gets six renders in pass 1, plus two more if none is kept: at least 2,208 renders for the series (translated). (reported) [1]
- Keep criteria were written before the first render, and each kept icon gets a 1–5 legibility score judged at 32 px, its real size in the talent tree; on 8 Oct 2026 this sent 10 of 368 icons back for rework (translated). (reported) [1]
- Rejects fell into three groups: multi-object scenes that vanish at 32 px, stray text (one icon came out with '5% OFF' written on it), and colours drifting from the planned family (translated). (reported) [1]
- The word 'thin', used inside a negation, kept attracting thin objects, so the shared sentence was rewritten in positive terms on 6 Oct 2026; asking for a 'minus' sign gave an × (translated). (reported) [1]
- He notes a known flaw: the cold style reference can pull an image towards violet (translated). (reported) [1]
- One crop and one grade went over all 368 in a single pass: centred crop from 932 to 1024 px, gamma 1.35, contrast +20, saturation +40% (translated). (reported) [1]
- The last 165 icons were produced in two days, 7 and 8 Oct 2026 (translated). (reported) [1]
- His conclusion: 'the real cost is not the generation, it's the sorting' (translated). (reported) [1]
- In a companion post on the game's wider redesign, he says other visuals were generated by Claude Code calling Krea's MCP server, with 'the agent produces and measures, the author decides' as the rule (translated). (reported) [3]
4TC interpretation
Our reading, not something the source says.
Consistency is the hard part of any long icon or badge set made with AI. This shows the consistency coming from what stays fixed around the model (prompt, settings, reject grid, one grade), and that sorting cost more than generating.
Designer impact
Alleged [1]
Image models keep words, not grammar: a word in a negation can still pull the result towards it.
- Describe what you want in positive terms.
- Describe the shape instead of naming a symbol (e.g. a minus sign).
Alleged [1]
Stray text and multi-object scenes slip through both passes.
- Check every icon at its real size before it ships.
- Rewrite scenes as one compact object.
Alleged [1]
The post uses two community LoRAs without saying their licences.
- Check the licence of any community LoRA before using it for commercial work.
